Conversions

Conversions can provide new uses to existing buildings which may add value to a property. We have just obtained consent to convert the upper floors of a grade II listed office building above a busy shopping street into 6 flats and are currently looking at converting a Victorian warehouse in a conservation area into 8 residential units.

Loft conversions are a cost effective way of maximising the internal floor area of houses and can add interest to a home.

The change of use of a building will trigger requirements to upgrade the thermal value of the envelope and make buildings more energy efficient. Some buildings are suitable for external wall insulation but stone fronted or ornamental buildings are best insulated internally so not to change the architectural style or character. We carry out thermal performance evaluations for larger and / or period domestic properties where clients would welcome an Architects' viewpoint on suitable carbon reduction or energy saving measures
